A Day in Your Life at MKS: As a Senior Quality Engineer at Newport /MKS Company located in Irvine, CA you will partner with Newport Precision Optics Manufacturing to lead the Quality activities for key customers and internal projects. In this role, you will report to the Technical Director, Quality Engineering.You Will Make an Impact By:
Work closely with the Optical Fabrication team, drive a Culture of Zero-Defect Quality.
Troubleshoot customers issues using structured 8D problem solving methods and diagnosing potentially complex issues. Drive critical issues with urgency and effectively communicates solutions to customers.
Review and update QMS procedures as per ISO 9001-2015 guidelines.
Lead Site Equipment Calibration and Return of Materials Processes. Must be comfortable working in clean room environment.
Continuously interface with Operations, D&E, and Production Support teams to implement proactive improvements to quality.
Lead pFMEA, process audits and related control plan activities.
Travel Requirements: Up to 10 % of Travel is required.
Skills You Bring:
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, material science, or equivalent discipline.
5+ years of QA Engineering experience working in fast paced manufacturing.
Experience with Quality and Reliability methodologies and tools such as PPAP, 8D, FAI, FMEA, DMAIC, Gage R&R, DFx, DOE, Six Sigma, etc.
Comprehensive understanding of ISO 9001-2015 Quality System Standards.
Experience with Lean, 6S, zero-defect manufacturing processes, inspection methods, and tools, with focus on continuous improvement.
Preferred Skills: (Optional)
Experience with thin film coating.
Knowledge of ASME Y14.5-2009 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
Experience with optical components fabrication, grinding, polishing, metrology.
Knowledge of process development with SQC/SPC.
