Dental Front Office Duties
Focus: Patient experience, scheduling, and administrative operations.
1. Patient Reception & Check-In
Greet patients warmly upon arrival and create a welcoming environment.
Verify and update patient demographic information.
Ensure new patient forms and medical histories are complete.
2. Scheduling & Calendar Management
Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments.
Maintain efficient appointment flow to maximize productivity.
Manage cancellations and no-show follow-ups.
3. Insurance & Financial Coordination
Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
Obtain necessary pre-authorizations.
Present treatment plans with estimated costs and insurance coverage.
Process payments, copays, and balance collections.
4. Patient Communication
Answer incoming calls and respond to emails.
Send appointment reminders and recall notices.
Handle patient concerns and direct them to the appropriate staff.
5. Office Administration
Maintain organized patient files (electronic and paper).
Assist with inventory orders for front office supplies.
Prepare daily deposit and reconcile payment reports.
Dental Back Office Duties
Focus: Clinical support, patient care, and treatment preparation.
1. Patient Preparation & Assistance
Escort patients to treatment rooms and make them comfortable.
Review medical history, allergies, and patient concerns.
Prepare patients for procedures by setting up instruments and supplies.
2. Chairside Assisting
Assist dentist during examinations and procedures (passing instruments, suctioning, retracting, etc.).
Anticipate dentist’s needs to ensure efficient treatment.
Mix and prepare dental materials (impressions, cements, composites).
3. Infection Control & Sterilization
Follow OSHA and CDC guidelines for sterilization and disinfection.
Clean and disinfect treatment rooms between patients.
Maintain sterilization logs and infection control compliance.
4. Radiography & Records
Take and develop dental X-rays (digital or film) as prescribed.
Upload and organize images into patient records.
Document treatment notes accurately in patient charts.
5. Lab & Equipment Maintenance
Pour and trim models, fabricate temporary crowns, and other lab tasks as needed.
Monitor and maintain dental equipment functionality.
Report and arrange repairs when needed.
6. Patient Education & Post-Op Care
Provide oral hygiene and post-treatment instructions.
Ensure patients understand aftercare and next appointment needs.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
