Job Summary:
The Maintenance/Houseperson is responsible for maintaining the hotel's physical appearance and operational integrity. This includes assisting with routine maintenance, repairs, and cleanliness tasks to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for guests and staff.
Maintenance Duties:
Perform routine maintenance checks in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
Handle basic repairs such as plumbing, electrical, painting, and minor HVAC troubleshooting.
Respond to maintenance requests from hotel departments (e.g., front desk, housekeeping).
Assist with the upkeep of hotel equipment and machinery, including washers, dryers, and HVAC systems.
Ensure that safety equipment (fire extinguishers, alarms, etc.) is in proper working condition and up to code.
Assist the Maintenance team with more complex repairs and projects as needed.
Housekeeping Assistance:
Help housekeeping staff with room set-up, cleanliness, and organization in public areas (lobbies, hallways, restrooms).
Remove trash and recyclables from public areas, guest rooms, and back-of-house spaces.
Ensure all guest and service areas are clean, well-maintained, and stocked with necessary supplies.
Assist with heavy lifting and moving of furniture and equipment when needed.
Guest Service:
Respond to guest requests for maintenance or housekeeping services in a friendly and efficient manner.
Ensure minimal disruption to guests while performing maintenance or housekeeping duties.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all hotel safety policies and procedures, including safe handling of chemicals, tools, and machinery.
Report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or repair needs to the appropriate department.
Help maintain the hotel’s compliance with local health and safety regulations.
Other Duties:
Perform other duties as required by management.
Assist with seasonal or emergency maintenance projects.
Ensure all maintenance tools and equipment are stored properly and kept in good working order.
Qualifications:
Experience: Prior experience in maintenance, houseperson in hospitality.
Skills:
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Ability to operate and maintain maintenance tools and equipment.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
Customer Service: Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact positively with guests and staff.
Work Environment:
Hours: Must be available for flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Environment: Primarily indoor work with some outdoor tasks. Exposure to various temperatures and cleaning chemicals.
