OVERVIEW:
Elder Law & Advocacy is a non-profit organization providing free civil legal services and Medicare counseling to qualifying seniors and people with disabilities in San Diego and Imperial counties since 1978.
We are currently searching for a full-time onsite Bilingual Program Assistant for our office in El Centro, CA.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Handle intake for individuals seeking assistance from the organization
Answer incoming calls, check messages, return calls, and transfer as appropriate
Train to become a Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program Counselor (we provide the training)
Coordinate volunteers
Input pertinent information into our databases and set up clients for calls and appointments
Scan and upload documents related to cases and clients
Provide support for office operations and other projects as needed
Attending community events and presentations
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent customer service skills
General office skills
Bilingual in Spanish and English. Ability to interpret for Spanish-speaking clients in counseling sessions and community education presentations
Computer skills, including Microsoft 365, communication apps, and database familiarity
Ability to handle incoming calls and in-person office visits in real time
Ability to meet deadlines
Good organizational skills
Ability to translate documents and communication as necessary
Ability to handle technology, including computers, scanners, and apps of all kinds
Ability to create documents, including reports, brochures, and other materials
SCHEDULE/LOCATION:
Full-time onsite.
Monday-Friday, 8a-5p
Location: 939 Main St, El Centro, CA 92243
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
$18-22/hour, depending on experience.
