Critters Without Litters is a nonprofit high-quality, high volume spay and neuter clinic in Humboldt County, dedicated to providing affordable spay and neuter services to prevent unwanted litters of puppies and kittens in our community. Our friendly and compassionate staff treat all animals that come into our clinic as if they were their own.

Summary: This position performs a variety of duties pertaining to surgeries, treatments, and disinfecting the treatment areas and kennels to ensure safety for all animals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

❖ Open clinic

❖ Provide exceptional customer service and assist with client check-ins and check-outs as needed

❖ Taking vitals of patients (weight; temp; description)

❖ Enter patients’ names/info on surgery board prior to surgery

❖ Assist veterinarian with exams of patients

❖ Prepare surgical equipment and ensure a sterile environment

❖ Monitor and care for animals before, during, and after surgery

❖ Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian

❖ Perform blood draws and laboratory tests

❖ Maintain accurate medical records and patient files

❖ Educate clients on post-operative care and answer their questions

❖ Help maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic

❖ Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure the highest standard of care

Requirements:

❖ Ability to multitask

❖ Able to lift up to 50 pounds

❖ Previous experience in a veterinary clinic

❖ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

❖ Ability to work independently and as part of a team

❖ Compassion, patience, and empathy towards animals and clients
