Position: Full-time, Upper Elementary Teacher (Montessori 4th–6th Grade)

Location: Redwood Coast Montessori (Public Charter School)

Grade Levels: Upper Elementary (4th–6th Grade)

Position Summary:

Redwood Coast Montessori is seeking a passionate and collaborative educator to lead a Montessori upper elementary classroom (grades 4–6) in a public charter school setting. The ideal candidate is committed to Montessori philosophy, student-centered practices, and fostering a peaceful, inclusive classroom community.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential or a Montessori Upper Elementary Credential (AMS, AMI, or MACTE-accredited)

-Willingness to obtain the other credential within 3 years of employment

-Bachelor’s Degree

-CPR/First Aid Certification

-Experience working with upper elementary students (grades 4–6)

-Strong classroom management and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

-CLAD or EL Authorization

-Experience teaching in a Montessori classroom

-Familiarity with the California Common Core State Standards and Montessori pedagogy

-Ability to work collaboratively in a team-teaching environment

-Experience with restorative practices and community-building approaches to discipline

Key Responsibilities:

-Lead a Montessori 4th–6th grade classroom, integrating Montessori philosophy with public education standards

-Create and maintain an organized, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment

-Observe, assess, and document student progress and development

-Collaborate with instructional assistants, colleagues, and administration

-Attend and participate in staff meetings, IEPs, SST/MTSS meetings, and professional development

-Implement tier 1 and tier 2 supports for diverse learning needs

-Use restorative practices to support student behavior, repair harm, and strengthen community

-Communicate regularly and constructively with families and the school community

-Support a peaceful school culture rooted in equity, inclusion, and respect

-Participate in school events and follow all school procedures
