Located in Chico California and founded in 1997, MTECH (www.mtechincorporated.com) designs and manufactures products for fire, rescue and other industrial markets. We are growing rapidly and are looking to make an immediate hire for this full-time position.

The ideal candidate for this position will feel equally at home both designing and producing technical documents for our products. This is truly a hands-on, “all-arounder” design position. Even though this position is not technically a part of the manufacturing environment, the ideal candidate will feel comfortable interfacing with both the Engineering and Manufacturing departments.
MTECH uses SolidWorks for computer-aided design, E2 for enterprise resource management, Mastercam for CNC tool-pathing, as well as various other software applications. Experience with Solidworks is necessary including a basic understanding of the menus and workflow of that program. A general understanding of BOMs and engineering documentation workflow is a plus.
Major areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to):
Work with the Engineering team to create documents related to MTECH products, including work instructions, manuals, exploded drawings and other related documents.
Design and prepare for production tanks, sprayers, truck bodies, etc. using CAE/CAM software, aligning designs with MTECH manufacturing capabilities.
Assist in documenting engineering design processes and workflow.
Work within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to generate and maintain part numbers, BOMs and labor routings
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Job Requirements:
3+ years working knowledge of Solidworks (CAM and ERP system knowledge is a plus)
Working knowledge of basic machine design elements, including (but not limited to) fasteners, pipe and pipe fittings, 12v vehicle electronics, and water pumps
Working knowledge of standard hand tools and standard machine tools including mills, lathes and welders
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows operating systems, tools, and file structures
Ability to generate drawings and other engineering documentation
Ability to communicate and work productively with other employees, particularly Manufacturing and Sales, as well as customers
Ability to ramp up quickly in a new work environment
Desire to learn and grow
Education and Experience:
Minimum high school degree (or equivalent) – Prefer Associate of Science (or equivalent)
Minimum three-years professional working experience with SolidWorks
Minimum one-year applicable experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Physical Demands
As typical for a hands-on Engineering Technician role
The Design Engineer will spend approximately 80% of the day working at a desk. The remaining 20% will be spent interfacing with manufacturing and working manufacturing problems. These percentages are not set and will likely swing back and forth as work requires.
