Job Description

Coordinate and manage the athletic-related functions for the school district, includingplanning, organizing, and managing the coaches within the Athletics Department.There will be one Community Athletic Director in Helena and one Community Athletic Director in Blytheville.TheCommunityAthletic Director will report to the appointed designee.

Responsibilities The KIPP DeltaRegionalCommunityDirectorrole includes (but is not limited to):

  • Develop and implement specific athletic programs; direct and coordinate a full rangeof athleticdepartment services and programsfor your school community (Helena or Blytheville, grades 7-12).

  • Ensure compliance with AAA(Arkansas Activities Association)and stateregulations, guidelinesand appropriate correspondence, including safety and health protocols.

  • Provide athlete and coachorientation, conditioning, andathletics training programs.

  • Develop and provide annual professional development and training for student athletes and coaches.

  • Advise otherschoolpersonnel in planning programs and services for student athletes andathletic activities.

  • Secure athletic facilities; supervise utilization of the athletic facilities; coordinate athletic uses of training and weightroom facilities; recommend and review policies for student use of facilitiesat the school; review and recommend changes, repairs and improvement of athleticequipment and facilities.

  • Arrange for athletic events (game management).

  • Coordinate master athletic calendarswith AAA and area high schools.

  • Distribute AAA calendar of due dates to all athletic coaching staff. Monitor due datesand send reminders to all coaching staff. Follow up to assure all due dates have been met.

  • Oversee the coordination of school vehicles for athletics travelwith the regional transportation director.

  • Develop and provide a variety of student services and programs such as student athletic recruitment and retention, academic tracking and athletic eligibility, health and safety.

  • Make recommendations in matters of student athlete discipline; advise students in eligibility and academic issues.

  • Develop annualcommunityathletics department budget; review and control expenditures from athletics accounts. Provide leadership for Booster and other athletics club fundraising activities. Assist the Booster President with the delivery of Booster benefits (apparel, recreation passes, and plaques).

  • Attend all athletic home events/competitions and act as the game administrator, orappointanadministrator-level designee in the event of your absence.

  • Serve as liaison with community, state and conference organizations related to athletics.

Qualifications

Required Education, Credentials, & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree inathletics,coaching,physicaleducation or a closely related field.

  • Two or more years previous coaching experience required

  • Experience and knowledge of current practices in the delivery of athletic programs

  • Must be a licensed teacher or teacher granted a written waiver through ADE licensure who meet the employment criteria stated in Rule 2 as required by the Arkansas Department of Education or a credentialed Registered Volunteer as authorized by Act 1012 of the 1997 Arkansas General Assembly.

  • Possess or be able to become AAA coaching endorsed before beginning the role.

  • Possess valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certificates

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.

Salary:The selected candidate forthe position will receive a stipend aligned with KIPP Delta'sstipend chart.
