IT Support Technician

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Must reside in a city or incorporated town limit to be employed by Arkansas Municipal League.

Work Duties:
  • Responds to initial telephone and email inquiries and troubleshoots relatively simple hardware, software, or network problems that can be resolved in a short amount of time;
  • Logs call activity and documents user issues for future reference or for tier 2 support;
  • Analyzes trends in helpdesk issue reporting and devises preventative solutions;
  • Responds to user requests for service and determines the nature and extent of support needed;
  • Recognizes and escalates more difficult problems to tier 2 support;
  • Provides assistance for “how to” requests regarding Microsoft Office applications – Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.;
  • Troubleshoots user issues with company iPhones and hotspots;
  • Configures desktop application software per department need;
  • Provides business systems end user support and creates user guidelines;
  • Provides software and technical support to Arkansas Municipal League (AML) staff;
  • Installs, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots a wide range of software used throughout AML and performs hardware/software upgrades to existing computer equipment as needed and keeps desktops and desktop applications patched;
  • Responds to software problem calls on site or over the phone for users. Investigates error messages and determines resolution. Reinstalls program or replaces files that are causing errors;
  • Troubleshoots and repairs hardware and minor network connectivity issues;
  • Removes outdated equipment ensuring storage devices have been wiped. Performs data migration to new machines;
  • Maintains daily performance of desktop computer systems;
  • Changes backup tapes and schedules backup tape rotation;
  • Maintains hardware asset database and takes periodic hardware and software inventory;
  • Schedules regular maintenance of scanners, copiers, printers and other peripheral equipment;
  • Orders equipment and software at the direction of the CIO; and
  • Other duties that may be assigned.
  • Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field preferred. Minimum of five years of work experience in an IT support position. Preferred A+ certification, Network+ certification or Microsoft technical certification. Experience with Microsoft Servers and SQL Server a plus.
