With our combined resources, CommonSpirit is committed to building healthy communities, advocating for those who are poor and vulnerable, and innovating how and where healing can happen, both inside our hospitals and out in the community.ResponsibilitiesCommunicationAnswers telephone promptly and courteously.Identifies clinic and self when answering outside calls.Identifies self when answering inside calls.Assists customers with all aspects of appointment scheduling in a positive and professional manner.Notifies patients by telephone and/or by letter of pricing errors when appropriate prior to statement mailing.Information ManagementPresents registration form to each established patient and professionally asks patient to verify and make necessary changes in demographic and insurance information.Changes demographic and insurance information in the practice management system and in the patient’s medical record in accordance with policy and procedure.Presents new patient form to each new patient and professionally requests that patient complete both sides of the form.Enters demographic and insurance information in the practice management system and establishes a chart for the patient according to clinic guidelines.Presents HIPAA consent form to patient in registration process, obtains patient signature on form and enter into computer system.Handles patient account and medical information accordance with clinic confidentiality guidelines.ClericalGenerates a superbill for each patient visit from the appropriate account.Generates a lab requisition form for each patient visit from the appropriate account.Obtains UHS and workers compensation treatment form on worker’s compensation patients.Photocopies driver’s license and insurance cards for all new patients and places these items in the patient’s chart.Retrieves the correct patient medical record in a timely manner for each patient visit.Places appropriate stickers on patient’s chart.Delivers medical record, superbill and lab requisition form to physician area in a timely manner.Codes and prices superbills according to established fee schedule.Attempts to collect money from customers for services when appropriate.Reconciles money collected with daily receipt totals.Completes medical records release forms when requested by customer.Schedules appointments for patients.StewardshipIs honest and trustworthy in all clinic dealings.Utilizes resources in a cost-effective manner.Demonstrates accountability for own actions.Guest RelationsProfessionally greets customers.Introduces self when appropriate.Escorts patients to physician waiting areas in a professional manner.Works to create an amiable atmosphere within the clinic.Strives to work toward the mission of St. Vincent Health System.QualificationsEducation:High School Diploma, GED, Metropolitan Test or equivalentExperience:One year experience in medical clinic preferred.Physical Requirements:This job requires, at various times, the following physical activities; sitting, reaching, carrying, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing, and finger dexterity. Must have close visual acuity to perform daily activities.
