All DOC positions are designated as Safety Sensitive Positions and are subject to random drug testing pursuant to the Secretarial Directive governing Personnel Drug Testing. Medical marijuana usage, as defined in Amendment 93 of the Arkansas Constitution, prohibits Personnel in a Safety-Sensitive Position from the use of medical marijuana even if they are qualifying patient under the amendment and/or hold a registry identification card. Department Personnel are prohibited from the use or possession of a medicinal marijuana card pursuant to this policy and state law. Position InformationClass Code: T045CGrade: GS07FLSA Status: NON-EXEMPTSalary Range: $40,340.00 - $64,343.00SummaryThe Department of Community Correction (DCC) Parole/Probation Officer is responsible for supervision of adult offenders placed on parole/probation. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.FunctionsMeets with parolee/probationer during initial office visit, explains the rules, regulations, and conditions of parole or probation, establishes the frequency of office visits, obtains parolees/probationers signature on required documents, and completes all required DCC forms. Counsels parolee/probationers and evaluates their needs. Makes referrals to various public and private agencies for assistance in specific areas such as substance abuse counseling and treatment, employment, education, and various human services. Collects and monitors supervision fees in accordance with established policy and procedures. Creates chronological records and maintains history of contacts with parolees/probationers. Maintains all required records and prepares reports. Administers board of correction or court ordered and random drug tests and writes violation warrants on parolee/probationer when results are positive. Conducts parole/probation violation investigations by researching criminal activity and technical violations, writes summary of investigation and submits to the Board of Parole or court to assist with parole/probation decisions. Contacts appropriate authority to issue warrants for arrest, serves warrants and make arrests when warranted. Attends revocation hearings, presents evidence, and serves as a witness to prove violations. Makes home and community visits to verify parolee/probationer adherence to conditions of parole/probation and to assist in making the community adjustment process. Prepares and submits monthly caseload and activity reports. Submits progress reports to other states on summarizing the behavior, residence, and employment information for interstate compact parolee/probationers being supervised by Arkansas under their supervision. Ability to conduct parole/probation, pre-parole or pre-sentence investigations.Minimum QualificationsThe formal equivalent of a bachelor's degree criminal justice, sociology, psychology, social work, or a related field; plus two years of experience as a DCC Parole/Probation Officer II. Must possess a valid Arkansas driver's license. Must be certified as a specialized police officer by the Arkansas Law Enforcement Standards Commission as established by ACA 12-9-106. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
