My father is 87 and lives near Mission and Ajo. He has mid stage dementia. I live next door. He has weekday care but dementia patients do best with a consistent schedule so we’re looking for companionship for him both Saturday and Sunday mornings from 7 am to noon.
Routine is:
Come in, make coffee and some toast for him. Have coffee with him at the kitchen table while he eats. Also, give him his morning pills and do eye drops. Make sure he has showered. If not, ask him to shower - h doesn’t need help in the shower but it’s helpful to remind him of the steps and then let him do it. Put out clean clothes for him.
Feed his little dog, Poppy. Sweep the kitchen if necessary. Prepare a microwave meal for him for lunch and sit with him while he has lunch at 11:30.
He has poor eyesight, so a quick wipe down of the bathroom floor at the end of the shift is standard.
Ideal candidate is a killed in assisting patients with daily living activities, administering medication, meal prep, hygiene and errands. A trustworthy professional with a caring attitude centered on treating all patients with dignity and respect; ensuring client safety and comfort. Previous experience with the elderly as well as experience with dementia patients is also requested, as is a Fingerprint Clearance Card. References are kindly requested.
Pay is $20 an hour.
