We are an agile team and have developed a product that combines open-source tools with home-grown solutions to meet a wide range of customer needs. We are looking for a highly motivated and creative developer with a strong automation and infrastructure background to join us on our journey and help take our product to the next level.Duties and Responsibilities:• Skilled in at least one programming language: Go, Java, etc.• Skilled in at least one scripting language: Python, Ruby, shell, etc.• Experience applying software development best practices (design principles, documentation, testing, security, etc.)• Comfortable working in the Linux command line• Experience working with development tools (Git preferred) and branching strategies• Ability to learn and share new technical concepts quickly• Strong communication, relationship building and leadership skillsWe Are Looking for Candidates With• Experience working in an agile development environment• Knowledge of infrastructure (Linux)• Experience working with infrastructure event management, monitoring, traceability and notification tools• Experience working with Prometheus and Grafana or similar monitoring and reporting tools• Experience working with open source software• Knowledge of configuration management (preferably Puppet & Ansible)• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (preferably with Docker & Kubernetes)• Experience writing scripts that automate tasks (in Bash, Python, Ruby, etc.)• API/Web service development & maintenance• Knowledge of networking (LDAP, sockets, ports, etc.)• Knowledge of AIOps and toolsWhat You Can ExpectNext Steps: Competitive candidates may be invited to participate in pre-employment testing and/or the interview process (HireVue On-Demand Interview).This is where the excitement begins!This position will have an 18-month incumbency period, beginning on the effective date of the position, which must be met before the employee can post for any other lateral State Farm position. Employees may be considered for leadership or Technology Engineer openings at any time, and a promotional position within the same job structure (i.e. Professional/Technical or Para-professional/Support) after 6 months from the effective date of the position. In these cases, the remaining incumbency would be waived. The incumbency period does not affect the at-will relationship between State Farm and the employee and does not create an employment contract, nor contractual rights.
