General Position Summary:The Network Administrator provides network related support for incident resolution and requests reported to the Helpdesk. Responsibilities include initial assessment, triage, research, and resolution of incidents and requests regarding the use of application software products and/or LAN/WAN/Firewall/Security components. The Network Administrator is responsible for collecting information through customer conversation, accessing support tools, and additional support staff (Clinical Informatics, Helpdesk, or other System administrators) if needed. Problems beyond the scope of their ability or responsibility are resolved by engaging in a timely manner other resources. The Network Administrator must be able to handle dynamic situations and be able to provide suggestions/guidance to IT Director regarding problems & solutions. The Network Administrator is the owner of our LAN/WAN/Firewall infrastructure.

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:
  • Serves as subject matter expert for assigned hardware/software applications. Ensures software & firmware is maintained appropriately to best practices and Summit policies.
  • Addresses and resolves incidents and requests; logs all incidents and requests; engages other Helpdesk resources or appropriate resources to resolve incidents that are beyond the scope of their ability or responsibility
  • Install and support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems.
  • Respond to and work with appropriate parties to capture information resulting from network, remote clinic outages, slowdowns, etc
  • Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users.
  • Sends Notifications of all outages and planned maintenance to all interested parties.
  • Manage and prioritize outstanding support issues.
  • Maintain and update Helpdesk solutions database.
  • Uses the appropriate categories for logging incidents and requests.
  • Creates a positive customer support experience and builds strong relationships through deep problem understanding, ensuring timely resolution or escalation, communicating promptly on progress, and handling customers with a consummately professional attitude.
  • Determine network and system requirements.
  • Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.
  • Ensure network connectivity throughout a company's LAN/WAN infrastructure.
  • Design and deploy networks.
  • Perform network address assignment.
  • Assign routing protocols and routing table configuration.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of internet technologies and their workings [dns, security, ip routing, http, vpn, email routing, spam, etc].
  • Configure and maintain firewalls, routers and security appliances.
  • Design, setup and configure complex switching environments.
  • Provides recommendations to IT Director for network/security process & policies.
  • Design, setup and configure complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications.
  • Responsible for data network disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Displays proper etiquette and mannerisms that reflect the Keys to Excellence.
  • Promotes the Patient Safety Standards as a core value of the organization.

Specific Job Skills & Mental Activities: Must possess knowledge as typically obtained through the completion of an Associate’s Degree in electronics, telecommunications or computer technology or related field.Must possess knowledge as would typically be obtained in two-four years of practical network experience.

Education and/or Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Advanced technical computer skills (required).
  • AA/AAS degree in related field (required).
  • Five years related experience (required).
  • Cisco catalyst & Nexus switch/ router/AP/WLC experience (required)
  • Cisco Call Manager experience (preferred)
  • Fortinet firewall/switch/AP experience (required)
