A Vegan/Plant-Based Food Scientist/Product Developer needs a part-time (could be full-time) assistant to help with the following duties:
Chef/Cook/Prep/ Lab Assitant Position:
Assist in the product development of specific plant-based products not limited to:
Plant-Base Cheeses
Plant-based Sauces, soups, and sauces
Plant-based meat alternatives
Assist with the Procurement of ingredients both online and locally
Enter ingredients and formulations into a label and nutritional software application
Assist with the R&D process of making samples and prototypes
Prepping and sanitizing the workspace and utensils and equipment
Preparing the ingredients and raw materials
To prepare sub recipes required
Adhere to the exact ingredients and control the portion of product formulas and recipes.
Preparing samples and lab testing paperwork to send to clients and libraries.
Sending Samples to clients via Fex Ex or UPS
Adhere to the preparation schedule, kitchen & lab time, and sample/prototype development.
Working with software to do product costing
Consulting with staff on the best ways to incorporate food preparation into their business model.
Proper food handling methods and sanitation practices are required
Preparing samples and lab testing paperwork to send to clients and libraries.
Experience can be commensurate with education requirements.
Certifications:
At a minimum, a food handlers permit is required,
Food Manager certification is a plus
Relevant industry certifications may be beneficial
Pluses but not necessary:
Strong understanding of food chemistry, microbiology, and nutrition
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to design and execute research experiments
Proficiency in laboratory techniques and data analysis
My role is to use principles from biology, chemistry, and other sciences to study the nutritional aspects of food, analyze food composition, develop new food products, research ways to safely process and preserve food, and ensure food safety throughout production and distribution,often working in research and development roles and complete food manufacturing processes and lines with larger companies;their primary focus is to create safe, nutritious, and palatable vegan/plant-based food products for consumers while considering factors like quality, shelf life, and cost-efficiency.
