Job Title: Canvasser/Canvass Leads
Location: Arizona (Maricopa, Pima, Yuma, Santa Cruz, Cochise, Coconino County)
Compensation: $27.50 per hour Canvasser/ $30 per hour for Canvass Lead
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Position: Part-time (up to 28 hrs/week), temporary
Dates of Employment: August 26th, 2024 - November 8th, 2024
Care in Action is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting for dignity and fairness for the millions of domestic workers, care workers, and family caregivers in the United States, many of whom are immigrants and women of color.
We are hiring motivated individuals to join our paid field program in Arizona for the upcoming 2024 General Elections. To aid turnout, Care in Action is launching a canvassing operation aimed at educating, empowering, and mobilizing Women of Color Voters to the polls this November.
Canvassers will be responsible for talking with voters about the 2024 General elections. They will educate community members about Care in Action’s endorsed candidates and the different ways to vote in AZ Canvassers will work under the immediate supervision of a Canvass Lead and the Arizona Program Manager.
Canvass Leads will be responsible for managing a small team of other canvassers who are paid staff. This is a temporary position. Canvass Leads will work under the immediate supervision of the AZ Program Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Canvass neighborhoods to drop off important election materials and have brief in-person discussion with potential voters about Care in Action's endorsed candidates and empower folks with the information they need to turn out and vote.
- Track data and complete canvassing shifts as scheduled
- Meet Individual daily goals as part of a collective team goal
- Check-in as needed with your Lead about your progress and team GOTV goals
- Communicate with your supervisor daily about your shifts and availability
- Represent the organization professionally and effectively to the public
Qualifications and Experience:
- Have access to a smartphone, with reliable mobile internet service at all times
- Candidates must be able and willing to be outdoors and walk for 4-6 hours daily
- Work well as part of the team
- Strong interpersonal skills and outgoing personality
- Be goal-oriented, punctual, organized, and have a positive attitude
- Believe in the mission and vision of Care in Action
- Proficiency in a language other than English is a plus
- Access to a car is a plus, but carpooling is an option
