QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong understanding of structural weldments involving fitted pipe work, flanges and structural materials.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.

Experienced and proficient with vessel, pipe and structural welding per ASME Code. Perform welding tasks according to ASME code standards

Experienced with MIG and TIG welding.

Experienced with welding primarily carbon steels and stainless steels.

Experienced with using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).

Experienced with utilization of support equipment i.e. sand blasters, hydraulic presses, grinders, hand tools, etc. to prep materials prior to weld.

Experienced with fork truck operation.

Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use PPE. (Face-shield, gloves, Safety foot wear, Safety glasses, etc.).

Fluent in English with the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively communicate in a timely manner.

Must be able to pass a welding certification test to verify proficiency in welding techniques and codes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Read and understand job travelers, drawings, customer's blue prints, visual aids, and identification requirements.

Visually inspect parts during welding for visual discrepancies.

Weld product to meet Blueprint and/or drawing specifications/ requirements.

Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on drawing requirements/type of material.

Setup components for welding according to specifications, tack pieces together for a first piece inspection.

Operate angle grinders/ pedestal grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.

Align components using calipers, rulers, tape measures, etc. and clamp pieces.

Inspect and maintain weld equipment and other tools within the department for proper usage and safety.

Ensure safety procedures and regulations are followed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 3 years of experience in welding, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

3 year minimum of weld experience.

Successful completion of a relevant weld apprenticeship program is required.

Must possess a valid welding certification by the American Welding Society (AWS) or a similar certification.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
