Manual Machinist:
Machinist with a minimum of 5 years manufacturing knowledge for machining small to large precision parts utilizing manual lathes and mills. This position consists of full time employment with occasional overtime. Candidates must have a broad manual machining knowledge and the ability to set up and operate manual lathes and mills with little to no assistance. Machinist to demonstrate a professional and positive attitude as well as the passion for machining and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Machine parts using manual engine lathes and knee mills with or, without DRO
Ability to use drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw.
Have a keen eye for quality and identify potential defects in machining of parts
Perform dimensional and visual checks using appropriate hand measuring equipment and gauges to ensure components meet specifications
Follow all routers and machining procedures
Ensures compliance with Company safety and environmental requirements
Maintain a 5-S work area along with machine PM
Report discrepancies in machining cycle times as soon as they are identified
Provide input to supervision to resolve quality problems and improve operations
Assist and train operator(s) in machining processes
Demonstrate a professional and positive attitude as well as the passion for continuous improvement.
Machine a variety of metals such as carbon steel, 300 and 400 stainless steels, Aluminum & Plastics.
Fabricate tooling, fixtures and hardware as required
Work with management and peers to support a team environment.
Qualifications:
5+ years’ experience as a manual machinist in machine shop/job shop work environment
Setup & operation machines with little to no assistance
Trade School certificate or, equivalent preferred
Must possess excellent machining fundamentals and philosophy along with good math skills
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, MOT’s and knowledgeable with GD&T
Must be able to decipher proper tooling, speeds and feeds for soft and hard metals
Ability to use measuring devices such as micrometer, caliper, and height gauge
Must be fluent in English
Must possess excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
Must have excellent attendance and punctuality, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
