PAs are trained to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare services, often in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.Physician Assistants work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, physician offices, and specialty practices. They play a vital role in expanding access to healthcare services, improving patient outcomes, and enhancing the efficiency of healthcare delivery.
Responsible for performing patient evaluations, reviewing pretreatment teaching, recommending therapeutic intervention, counseling patients and families and collaborating with appropriate physicians to provide other appropriate direct care interventions within the scope of practice for physician's assistants.
Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement programs.
Works within a multidisciplinary team to develop plans for the patient and their family.
Gathers complete history of patients and perform complete physical examinations or focused physical examinations for specific complaints.
Completes discharge summaries and maintains documentation on patient visits.
Conducts daily patient rounds and sees patients in outpatient clinic, as needed.
Recognizes and evaluates situations which require immediate attention of supervising physician and which require treatment procedures essential for life of patients; responds in appropriate manner.
Coordinates with supervising physician to provide instruction to patients on health and disease issues based on assessment data.
Prescribes and dispenses drugs and medical devices in accordance with regulations established by the Arizona Joint Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners in Medicine and Surgery.
Monitors effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and makes appropriate referrals when necessary.
Secures patient health illness and psychological history by ordering, performing and interpreting appropriate laboratory, radiographic and other diagnostic tests.
Discriminates between abnormal and normal findings based on history and physical and diagnostic test results, and initiates consultation, referral, or treatment as appropriate.
Rotates call for after hour/weekend.
