ControllerThis is a direct hire position. This remote position is open to candidates who reside in these locations upon applying (Boston, NYC, D.C., Atlanta, Phoenix, Houston, Austin, Dallas, Chicago).YUPRO Placement is hiring a Controller who will report to the CEO, and lead all day-to-day accounting operations, and supervise the accounting team including functional responsibility over accounting, invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting, and audit.  The Controller is also responsible for leading the organization in compliance to federal, state and local taxes and governance and ensuring GAAP principles are followed.  Our Controller also supports the CEO in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and OPEX optimization.As a Public Benefit Corporation, and a wholly owned subsidiary to the nonprofit organization Year Up United, we support job placement and career support services to talent in traditionally overlooked communities.  We invite all candidates who share a commitment to our mission and vision to close the Opportunity Divide to apply today.Basic responsibilities for the Controller include but are not limited to:Uphold YP values through actions and behaviors aligned with responsibility, empathy, persistence, objectivity, and well-being.Ensure financial statement integrity and reporting compliance with GAAP and staffing industry best practices.Implement operational reporting to support informed decision-making and future growth.Reconcile general ledger entries weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually, addressing discrepancies.Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow) and update weekly cash balance reports for the CEO and Board Chairman.Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts, verifying, posting, and resolving discrepancies.Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while driving process improvements and best practices.Ensure compliance with all state and federal tax reporting, including payroll taxes, state registrations, and quarterly and annual filings.Collaborate with Parent Company Year Up United to fulfill reporting requests and be liaison for annual financial audit.Manage vendor relationships for tax and accounting services while overseeing budgeting, invoicing, A/R, A/P, and audit functions.Coordinate payments and billing for external vendors and ensure compliance with 1099 filings.Oversee payroll processing, ensuring tax compliance and supporting workers’ compensation, unemployment, and WOTC reporting with HR.Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in accounting (CPA preferred).5+ years as a financial leader, preferably in the services industry (staffing and placement experience a plus).Experience managing high-volume weekly transactions in a customer-centric environment.3+ years leading an accounting team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.Preference for candidates with experience in small to mid-size organizations or start-ups.Proven experience managing annual financial audits with external firms.Comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving environment that values collaboration and adaptability.Additional Job Specifics:Remote locations position may reside in (will not consider applications outside of these markets): Boston, NYC, D.C., Atlanta, Phoenix, Houston, Austin, Dallas, Chicago.Fully remote role requiring compliance with our remote workplace policy.Pay range of $100K-$130K based on broad geographic markets; salary will align with market, position, and experience.  Position eligible for discretionary corporate incentive plan, medical benefits, vacation and sick time, cell and internet stipends, laptop provided, and various conference attendance and professional development. Year Up Professional Resources, PBC DBA as YUPRO Placement is an Equal Opportunity Employer and upholds federal, state and local employment laws at all times.
