AECOM is currently seeking and experienced Civil Engineer to support mining, geotechnical, and civil infrastructure projects in our Phoenix offices. The qualified candidate shall have a minimum of 4 years of experience with a strong background in geotechnical investigation practice. The position requires effective verbal skills to communicate with internal teams and clients. Written communication skills in the form of technical reports are a must. Additional experience preferred includes: task management, geotechnical analytical skills, geologic modeling, and experience in geotechnical laboratory testingDescription Responsibilities Participate in field assignments that will include soil and rock borings, test pits, CPT soundings, geophysical testing; geotechnical instrumentation design and construction; and inspection of the construction of geotechnical features like retaining walls, foundations, mines, dams, levees, slopes and tunnels.Develop geotechnical design parameters based on laboratory data results.Design shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, ground improvement, flood risk reduction structures, embankments and cut and fill slopes, and tunnels.Use computer programs including GeoStudio, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, Plaxis, Settle3, and MathCAD for geotechnical analyses.Prepare and review Geotechnical work plans, Geotechnical Reports, Alternative Analysis Reports, etc.Review design plans and specifications and for compliance with geotechnical recommendations and communicate with multiple disciplines and provide design improvement recommendations.May lead one or more teams in the delivery of work efforts that are often complex.Mentor and train junior geotechnical engineers.Have the opportunity to meet with clients and participate in proposals.Project management – tracking scope, schedule and budgetHave the opportunity to travel to and work in locations both within the USA and around the world.
