Temple Kol Ami is a 400 member synagogue in Scottsdale, AZ, with budget of over $3.0 million. This position is responsible for all of the organization’s financial operations, accounting, reporting, budgeting and internal controls, membership management systems, payroll and benefits.
In addition to these direct responsibilities, this person is the primary support person for the staff and Board of Trustees. The position reports to the Executive Director.
Qualified candidates will minimally have an undergraduate degree in accounting or equivalent, and at least four years of experience in non-profit fund accounting. Experience at a church or synagogue is preferred. Proficiency with Quickbooks and Excel is required. Excellent computer skills, strong multitasking managerial abilities and outstanding customer service experience are important characteristics
Successful applicants will have demonstrated their ability to work collegially within a small staff and respond to the individual needs of Temple Kol Ami members and board members. As with all small organizations, flexibility, good humor, and commitment to mission and excellence are essential.
Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintain the organization’s accounting system and prepare financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and financial techniques and practices appropriate for a 501 (c) 3 organization
Provide guidance in budgeting and forecasting
Provide analysis and expert opinion preparing timely monthly financial documents for review by Board of Trustees
Monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
Accounts payable – from vendor research and obtaining W9s to paying invoices
Accounts receivable – from invoicing to collections
Create and Implement improvement to the financial internal control and general financial systems
Maintain operational records and filing system
Cash flow management and creation of cash flow projections and reports
Bi-monthly payroll processing and payroll responsibility and W9 knowledge including accounting functions of benefits plan
Set up, process and maintain benefits programs and liaison with vendors
In person and on-line correspondence with members
Relationship management with financial services and technology solution providers
Researching vendors for financial analysis including benefits and insurance plans
Other tasks as needed

Compensation: range $80-$85,000 annual
