Job Description: Second Shift Manager - Eat n' Run Cafe

Position: Second Shift Manager

Location: Eat n' Run Cafe

Hours: 2:00 PM - 9:00 PM, 5 days a week

Start Day: Training March 24, Commence Management April 1. (some flexibility possible)

Days Off: Sundays guaranteed; second day off coordinated with other management

Compensation: Competitive pay based on experience + participation in the tip pool

About Us:

Eat n' Run Cafe is a vibrant and neighborhood-centric café located on a busy corner, known for our colorful atmosphere and welcoming environment. We have successfully run a breakfast and lunch shift for 10 years and we are transitioning to also be open for dinner. We serve a mix of loyal locals and visiting tourists, offering fresh sandwiches, salads, lavosh, ice cream, and a delicious dessert bar. We pride ourselves on great food, excellent service, and a strong sense of community.

Job Summary:

We are looking for an upbeat and experienced second-shift manager to lead our team in the evenings. This role requires someone who can efficiently manage kitchen resources, staff hours, and overall café operations while maintaining a friendly and positive atmosphere for both employees and customers. The evening menu focuses on hot sandwiches, salads, lavosh, and smoothies, requiring smooth coordination between the kitchen and front-of-house operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee evening operations, ensuring smooth service and excellent customer experience.

Lead and motivate staff in a positive, team-oriented manner.

Manage kitchen resources efficiently, including food prep and staff scheduling.

Maintain high-quality food preparation standards for hot sandwiches, salads, lavosh, ice cream, and more.

Engage with customers in a friendly, upbeat, and professional way.

Ensure the café remains clean, organized, and welcoming at all times.

Train and develop team members, fostering a supportive work environment.

Handle any customer concerns or operational issues with professionalism and efficiency.

Assist in inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in restaurant or café management.

Strong leadership and team-building skills.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Experience in food preparation and kitchen management.

Ability to adapt to a diverse customer base, including both locals and tourists.

Must have references to demonstrate past management experience.
