Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a reliable and skilled Lead Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team in Southwest Alaska. This role is critical in ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and safety of our vehicle and equipment fleet. You will be responsible for overseeing fleet maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and implementing preventive maintenance programs-especially during our peak season.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical expertise, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to high-quality service. Proficiency in computer and office management software is preferred. THIS IS A ROTATIONAL SCHEDULE OF 4 WEEKS ON/ 4 WEEKS OFF!
Compensation: $35.00- $75.00/ Hour
Key Responsibilities:
Assess daily, weekly, and monthly fleet maintenance needs.
Plan, lead, and oversee routine fleet maintenance activities.
Coordinate maintenance and repair schedules with the Operations Manager.
Perform fleet maintenance, mechanical inspections, and routine service checks.
Execute the company's preventive maintenance plan.
Maintain accurate maintenance records for all fleet vehicles and equipment.
Oversee procurement and inventory management of tools, supplies, and parts.
Minimum Requirements:
Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
Ability to drive a manual transmission.
Strong diagnostic and repair skills, including electronic troubleshooting.
Experience managing vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Proficiency with OBD-II scanners and diagnostic tools.
Ability to perform maintenance in both shop and field
Metal fabrication experience, including cutting, grinding, and welding.
Willingness to work extended hours during peak season (May-August).
Strong decision-making and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and be on-call for emergencies.
Preferred Skills:
ASE Certification.
Active Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement.
Experience with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.
Familiarity with aircraft refueling equipment operations and maintenance.
Auto body repair
Experience servicing Ford, Kia, Bobcat, or Genie
Vintage vehicle restoration
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50-75 lbs.
Ability to stand, walk, and kneel for extended periods.
Willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
English language proficiency.
