Vacancy caducado!
Winterlake Lodge is located at Mile 198 along the Iditarod Trail, between Skwentna and Rainy Pass. We are looking for an individual or couple that can caretake our property this winter. Caretaking duties include feeding our 18 sled dogs, managing snow on the roofs of our buildings, and keeping an airstrip in on the lake once it is frozen. This is remote living so we need someone comfortable with our kind of lifestyle. You need to be woodstove-savvy, able to operate a chainsaw, capable of using a snow machine, and have a practical sense of being isolated and alone in a natural environment. We pay a caretaker's salary, provide room and board, and have weekly check-ins with you for support. We are about one hour from Anchorage by small plane. We are able to hire you as soon as possible to train for the position. We return to the lodge on February 15'th for our winter season of dog mushing and skiing. The caretaker can transition into winter work for additional pay. We are at the Finger Lake checkpoint, so this is an opportunity to see the Iditarod up close and personal. We are a sustainable and environmental company and we do not allow any hunting,
