Construction Field Engineer / Quality Control

The Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager, Site Superintendent, and other Field Representatives in managing the construction of the project, working in conjunction with other Staff to ensure quality and timeliness of project construction and completion. This position may be performed from a site office location.

PE Level - I

Zero (0) to Three (3) years of working experience in construction, environmental, or engineering design, specialized training, and/or BS degree may be substituted for work experience

PE Level - II

Three (3) to Five (5) years of working experience in construction, environmental, or engineering design, specialized training, and/or BS degree may be substituted for work experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

General Contract and Subcontract administration

Material & Equipment – procurement and expediting

Shop drawing and submittal review and coordination

Participation in and documentation of project coordination meetings

Supervision and coordination of subcontractors’ field installations

Construction Scheduling

Change order documentation

Research and suggest options on construction means, methods and equipment

Maintenance of As-Built plans

Quality control - field and shop

Project Closeout

Develops and administers quality control provisions

Travel will be required in support of other projects

May supervise, or escort other workers or subcontractors and ensure that safe work practices are always employed

Up to 60% of travel; up to 12 working hours per day while working in the field

Perform any other duties as assigned by management

Work Schedule :

Monday – Friday or as business/operational needs dictate.

Can work remotely for approximately 6 months per year. Food and lodging and transportation provided.

Straight time overtime paid for work on billable projects.

Work Environment :

May be indoors or outdoors, changes in temperature, weather conditions, and noise levels.

Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, stooping for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity, should have good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination.

Reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 12 hours.

Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds such as small electrical components, equipment, and other materials.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or Bachelors of Science Degree

Must be able to interpret construction drawings and communicate construction requirements to site construction superintendent and crew

Ability to pass a background check and/or obtain and maintain government security clearance

Some positions may require U.S. Citizenship

Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record, able to drive company vehicle

Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite

Adept at explaining technical aspects of field work to internal and external clients verbally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience in Federal Government projects highly desired

USACE Quality Control experience and RMS experience highly desired

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or Bachelors of Science Degree
