Mothership Host and Captain with 200-Ton License

Alaska, Southeast alaska, 99801 Southeast alaska USA

Vacancy caducado!

High-profile fishing lodge in southeast Alaska looking for a 200-ton captain and host for our mothership operation!

The Emerald Island Mothership is the moveable “fish camp” of Highliner Lodge, a premier saltwater fishing lodge located in Pelican, AK. The 91' steel Marco has 12 state rooms and plenty of creature comforts. From this home base, the Emerald Island offers guests a truly unique Alaskan experience, enjoying some of the best halibut and salmon fishing in the world by day and staying aboard the mothership at night, rather than commuting back to a shoreside lodge.

We typically anchor the vessel in a remote cove on the outer coast of Yakobi Island for trip durations of 4-5 nights with groups of 8 fishing guests at a time.

The Emerald Island serves two purposes for Highliner Lodge. In addition to fish camp, we use the vessel to transport building materials, groceries and supplies from Juneau to Pelican every 2 weeks.

This could be a fantastic opportunity for a semi-retired individual (or couple) to spend the summer living on the water in beautiful southeast Alaska. It could also be the ideal launching pad for an ambitious do-it-all candidate with an interest in charter fishing, ecotourism, cooking, mechanical work, or a desire to help grow our freight transportation business. Those interested in guiding will earn top dollar of $500-700/day in salary and tips, while a mothership host or cook might make $200-250/day in salary and tips but enjoy a much more relaxed schedule.

We will be operating the mothership nearly full-time during the months of June and August this year. Next summer, we anticipate running the mothership from June 1 through September 1 if we can find the right people to help us!

Qualifications/Duties:

-Must hold a valid USCG 200-Ton License (Near Coastal)

-Host groups of 8 guests between the hours of 6:00PM and 6:00AM

-Assist in any tasks necessary during the daytime, including preparing meals, cleaning, maintenance of vessel(s) and running a smaller boat to town in the mornings

-Prior experience charter fishing / guiding is a big plus but is NOT required

Compensation:

-Base salary depends on capabilities

-Generous tips (up to 12.5% of all mothership gratuities)

-Bonuses (travel, performance, referrals)

-Vested ownership and profit sharing opportunities for the exceptional individual
