Immediate opportunity for a deckhand / fish cutter at Highliner Lodge!
The Highliner Lodge is a thriving and ambitious fishing lodge. As an expanding business we are always looking for motivated, honest, hardworking and talented individuals. The lodge is located in the remote fishing village of Pelican ("Closest to the fish!")
This is an entry level position into the Alaska charter fishing business, with opportunities to advance and establish a long term position within our growing company. As a sport fishing deckhand, you would be working with some of the best guides on the water, gaining valuable experience and building connections with excellent customers who return to fish with us year after year. This position is ideal for someone who has already started to build certifiable sea time and is pursuing a near-coastal OUPV (6-pack).
Employment Dates:
-June 1 through September 1 (year-round opportunities available for the exceptional individual)
General Responsibilities:
-Assist charter captains on our 6-pack sportfishing boats and/or commercial salmon trollers
-Provide excellent customer service to our guests, bait hooks, instruct fishermen, and clean their fish in high-paced environment
-Replace bait, ice and fish towels nightly
-Restock boat snacks, sodas, and water nightly
-Fuel boats and heaters as directed
-Assist with fish processing operations, filleting and vacuum packing fish as directed
-Clean boats and tie gear in the evenings as instructed by charter captains
-Assist with work on boats, lodge, or various properties; including sanding, prepping, painting, cleaning, loading, organizing, preparing, etc.
-Assist with light carpentry, construction, boat, and lodge maintenance work
-You must be able to help out in any capacity required to make the lodge run smoothly!
Workload:
-In season work is approximately 12 hours per day, 7 days per week. You may be required to work more, or less, as necessary.
Job Requirements:
-Organized, clean, efficient, and attention for detail
-Knife skills are a plus
-Able to follow precise direction

-Able to clearly communicate with coworkers and managers
-Able to complete tasks
-Outgoing and courteous with clients and staff
-Able to lift 80 lbs and in good physical condition
-Be drug free, able to pass a drug test, and willing to take a drug test at any time
-Be a light or non-drinker
-Able to live and work in a close/shared/communal environment with co-workers
-Exceptional references
-Previous experience cutting fish or serving as a deckhand (commercial or sport) is a plus!

Compensation:
-$4,500/mo. salary (DOE)
-Significant share of tips, paid at the end of the season
-Room and board, use of laundry facilities and gym, and 3 meals/day provided at a rate of $600/month
-Average earnings of $25,000 per season (including tips)
