The Revenue Management encompasses all administrative and clinical functions that contribute to the capture, management, and collection of patient service revenue. It involves core business processes that cross administrative, financial and clinical department boundaries. The Revenue Management begins and ends with the patient. It is optimized and improved through strategic initiatives that are embraced by leadership and consider organizational strategy, people, process and enabling technologies.The Medical Coding Manager for Professional Services will be responsible for the operational performance of a multi-specialty physician coding team. Performance to be measured by attainment of department goals related to staffing to objectives and deliverables to meet business needs, retention goals, quality, and production standards achievement by the overall team. The position will require:Business management skills in communication, leadership, presentation, analysis, problem resolution , continuous improvement, and base financial understanding

Understanding of the coding function as a business entity, with market awareness of upcoming changes

Balance of priorities and leadership that considers clients, company, and employees.

Appropriate attention to detail, strong leadership capability, ability to multi-task and a highly reliable work ethic.

Excellent communication skills that enhance success and teamwork in the international team, across support functions, and within the organization overall.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Establish and manage to plans to meet department goals and objectives with respect to revenue, productivity, quality, performance management, retention, and training and turnaround time among other operational parameters.

Proactively identify and manage through potential risks of plan deviation, communicating status, impact, and recommendations appropriately to your manager.

Engage HR, Finance, IT and other support areas as needed to achieve goals. Manage targets to reasonable expectations, communicate dependencies and plans effectively, and report out on status of projects and initiatives.

Ensure coding department operates within all compliance requirements. Escalate risk areas appropriately for resolution.

Immediately identify areas of risk of not meeting service levels of clients, communicate to management and propose and implement agreed upon plan.

Assist with development and revision of operational policies and procedures that facilitate efficient workflow. Develops an understanding of the workflows, procedures and specific criteria for each assigned client.

Project Launch - Active involvement in project launch sessions to understand the coding process and track the daily progress during the launch period.

Assist with hiring, coaching, mentoring and performance management of the coding leadership team and their functional areas including coaching and mentoring on performance, production and quality goal achievement, and action plans for improvement, and recognition of employee progress and achievement of goals.

Co-develop a proposed training plan that aligns with new hires, new required education, back up for areas of risk, and employee growth. Implement approved plan and track progress. Recommend changes where desired results are not achieved.

Lead in a collaborative manner, soliciting feedback, communication of status and updates, and in a directional positive manner with the team.

Keep sensitive and proprietary information confidential and levels of communication within and outside the team within professional expectations.

Establish and lead meetings with staff, management, and entire team per department management team’s plan.

Recommend plan for use of over-capacity of staff; Implement agreed up on plan

Work with HR to ensure that a consistent recruiting effort is in place to meet upcoming projected and real needs.

QualificationsCompletion of a formal coding program with preference given to AAPC approved coding credential(s) or AHIMA CCS-P with coding work experience encompassing a working knowledge of the ICD-10-CM and CPT-coding systems; medical terminology; anatomy and physiology; and health record content.

Three years of progressive experience in professional medical coding/reimbursement.

Business management skills in communication, leadership, presentation, analysis, problem resolution , continuous improvement, and base financial understanding

Understanding of the coding function as a business entity, with market awareness of upcoming changes

Additional RequirementsStrong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills

Work as a member of a team as well as be a self-motivator with ability to work independently

Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment to coordinate work

Regularly uses close visual acuity and operates computer equipment to prepare and analyze and transmit data

Generally works in an office environment
