Organization Description: Restore Incorporated is a nonprofit faith-based agency with over 10 years of experience providing community-based support services for people with substance use disorders and behavioral health. Restorative Solution is the management company for Restore Inc. Restore Incorporated services are designed to enable and support adolescence and adults with behavioral health rehabilitation, needs in accordance with their ability and desire. Our mission is to assist individuals with the courage to change their lives.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Substance Abuse Counselor embraces and facilities the organization philosophy “doing everything we can to aid in the healing and support of the person in need,” model to stabilize and enrich the participant’s lives. You will be responsible for providing outreach, support and telephonic recovery check-ups to addicted individuals, while under the general supervision of an addiction professional. The Substance Abuse Counselor will provide counseling and guidance to patients and family members to assist them in understanding and coping with substance dependence issues. Duties include performing assessments of patient needs, motivations and backgrounds; developing treatment plans; conducting group counseling sessions and/or substance abuse education classes; and performing individual counseling under close supervision. These service functions include, but are not limited to reception, maintenance of medical records, data entry, word processing and mail service. This position requires a practical knowledge of treatment facilities and services, the basic rules and regulations governing clients and patient treatment.

Essential Functions:

Presents individual counseling/group lectures and didactic presentations weekly based on the areas of Relapse Prevention, Anger Management, Parenting skills, Life Skills, Criminal & Addictive Behaviors, and Co-occurring disorders.

Assists in developing, organizing, and conducting programs to provide education for conditions and problems relating to drug and alcohol abuse.

Provides support for substance abuse program activities including providing activity reports, reviewing the files of subordinates to ensure the accurate and timely documentation, and creating an environment which supports that mission of the program.

Works with patients to complete all intakes, admissions, discharges, and transfer paperwork.

Documents patient progress through counseling and interaction through groups.

Completes patient psychosocial and an individualized treatment plan within the required time frame.

Identifies any clinical/case management needs and works to address those needs.

Performs individual, group, and family counseling as required.

Performs at least 20 hours of direct one-on-one patient contact per week through individual or group counseling.

Reports patient abuse, neglect and exploitation as required.

Reports patient grievances as required.

Educates patient in all aspects of treatment, corresponding health issues and steps to recovery.

Obtains Urine Drug Screens and initial patient photo identification.

Assists in monitoring all patient activities on center premises.

Actively participates in community relations activities as directed and authorized.

Ensures the reading and understanding of the Policy and Procedures Manual.

Ensures compliance with 42 CFR Part 2 (Federal Confidentiality Regulations) and 45 CFR, Parts 160 & 164 (HIPAA)

Is responsible for obtaining or maintaining proper licensure and/or certification according to specific state requirements.

Actively participates in preparation for surveys and inspections conducted by CARF, the State, and agency site visits as dictated by the state laws or regulations.

Participates in all staff meetings

Ensures compliance with local, State, Federal and Restore Inc., rules, regulations and policies.

Always acts in the best interests of the program and company; honors, supports, and protects the proprietary data and rights of the company.

Performs other tasks as assigned by clinic, region or corporate leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Licensure/Certification:

o Experience in substance abuse field is not required, but preferred

o Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services related field

Experience Required:

o Minimum of 500 hours of experience in substance abuse is preferred

Skill and Ability:

o Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills

o Ability to multitask, prioritize, and be dependable and reliable

o Basic mathematics skills

Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
