ILA Information Referral Specialist and Medicare Counselor

Access Alaska Inc. is looking to Hire a Full Time ILA Information Referral Specialist and Medicare Counselor position in our Fairbanks office. An ideal candidate will have experience in the Human Service field, be knowledgeable of community resources, and have great customer service skills. This position will assist the elderly and people with disabilities to live independently within the community of their choice and to achieve physical, emotional, and economic independence by providing information and referral on appropriate services in the community. This position will also provide management of the Medicare open enrollment questions and information by appointment annually.
Essential Functions: Provide resources, information, and referrals to connect Consumers to local service, participate in meetings and other special community-based activities that impact the agency’s Independent Living Program. Must have significant knowledge related to Medicare services and information. Prefer the applicant is currently hold certification as a Medicare Counselor or can obtain certification within 90 days of hire, collaborates with other Independent Living Advocates to prepare outreach and public information material and participation in outreach events; Ensures timely reporting and data entry has taken place for I and R ILA and MCO.
Position Requirements: BA in Human and Social Service or equivalent work experience; Experience working with people with disabilities preferred. Knowledge of Independent Living service delivery system, other HSS programs, resources, disability benefits, etc. and use of the CIL data base, is useful.
Starting Wage: $17.24 to $21.21
