Our client is a thriving Radiation Therapy Center in Anchorage, Alaska offering state of the art cancer treatment in Alaska and collaborating with the brightest minds in Oncology Care. Working with a multidisciplinary team including radiation oncologists, medical physicists, radiation therapists, and a variety of patient navigation staff, the Radiation Oncology Nurse delivers high quality care to patients under treatment, provides support during Gamma Knife Stereotactic Radiosurgery and gynecological brachytherapy procedures, and provides mentorship and guidance to a team of medical assistants.

The Radiation Oncology Nurse will perform a variety of duties including but not limited to:

Identify patient problems or needs by collecting subjective data including but not limited to changes in physiological, psychological, sociological, and spiritual needs.

Monitor physical findings, test results and studies using knowledge of the disease process to interpret findings and identify potential complications.

Execute treatment plans and medication orders initiated by providers according to policies and protocols.

Educate patient and family members about radiation therapy before, during and after treatment.

Provide skilled nursing support including IV sedation for specialty procedures.

Triage the needs of on-treatment patients and coordinate referrals to supportive or additional specialists as directed by physician.

Coach and mentor team of medical assistants in patient care procedures and processes.

To compete for this position, candidates will need

Certification in Oncology Nursing or be able to obtain it within two years of hire

BLS, ACLS, and moderate sedation certification or able to obtain within 2-4 months of employment

Unencumbered state nursing license

No less than two (2) years of nursing experience in a medical practice setting

Compliance with annual mandatory education

Compliance with annual immunization requirements
