Who We Are Seeking: A motivated person to provide transit services for the Chickaloon Area Transit System. The Transit Driver completes daily vehicle inspections, cycling the lift, fueling and cleaning vehicle; maintains accurate passenger counts; and assists passengers as required.
Additional Responsibilities: The Transit Driver is responsible for operating a transit vehicle with 20 passengers or less, assisting with ride scheduling, and attending regular meetings and trainings.
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of responsible driving experience, preferably in the transit area. We are willing to train CNV Tribal citizens.
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and leadership skills; including the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain cooperative relationships and work successfully as a member of a team.
Excellent time management, problem-solving and organizational skills, with a proven ability to meet sometimes competing deadlines.
Superb verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to function well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software.
Certificates and Licenses Required: A valid Alaska Driver’s license is required for this position and the ability to be insured on CVTC’s vehicle insurance policy. The applicant must be able to obtain a B Class CDL with Passenger endorsement and a DOT medical card within the first 180 days of hire.
Pre-Employment Drug Screening and Background Check: This position requires you to complete and pass a pre-employment state and federal background check and DOT drug screening as a condition of employment.
Hiring Preferences: As allowed in P.L. 93-638, preference for employment will be given to Alaska Native and American Indian peoples. CVTC also applies family and local hiring preferences.
