This position assists persons who experience a disability to obtain adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and other services that support their ability to live independently within the community. This is a position for someone with management experience and oversight of general mechanical repair duties and assessment of customer needs.

Typical tasks – The Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Manager will oversee and manage the receipt and inventory of donated equipment, minor repairs, sanitizing/cleaning, maintain and inventory of durable medical equipment (walkers, shower chairs, toilet chairs/seats, crutches, canes, knee scooters manual wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs hospital beds etc.); document work activities and maintain equipment inventory; Processing and removing excess equipment and consumables; and demonstrate good will through positive communications with internal and external stakeholders.

Required to supervise activities related to safely using general repair hand tools and a specialized sanitizing and cleaning machine known as a Hub Scrub, work outside in various weather conditions, complete minor construction, and repair work, and keeping accurate purchasing, repair, and inventory records.

This position will engage as a member of the management team at Access Alaska to include participation in meetings, and communicating verbally, and in writing, with internal and external entities to benefit Alaska through the Anchorage and Fairbanks Offices.

This position requires an individual with excellent customer service skills, a professional image, and the ability to communicate effectively.

Must be organized, efficient and able to simultaneously manage multiple tasks.

Interest in collaborating with a community-based, individualized support services agency for individuals with disabilities and their families.

The ability to protect and maintain the confidentiality of customers health information and follow standard operation procedures to ensure compliance with HIPAA is required.

Provide consumers with demonstration and explanation in the correct operation of more complex equipment.

Assure the environments are maintained clean and organized. That the work area has unobstructed exits for main building and outbuildings walkways and entrances front and back of the building meeting OSHA regulations.

Maintain safety practices as required, for chemicals in use, use of the hub scrub, ladders, electric and battery-operated equipment, and tools.

Support the Mission and Vision of Access Alaska.

Education and job Requirements:

High school or general education development (GED) diploma.

Five (5) years of relevant work experience in small equipment repair and maintenance. Three (3) years of supervisory experience required.

Ability to utilize basic tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, battery drills, handsaws etc., to repair durable medical equipment.

Professional credentialing in mechanical/electrical/plumbing skills preferred

Working knowledge of MS Office including word processing, database manage and data entry skills.

Pay Rate: $20.48 to $24.84

Full Time Exempt
