Paralegal (or attorney) to help structure civil complaint

Alaska, Anchorage / mat-su, 99501 Anchorage / mat-su USA

Vacancy caducado!

Seeking paralegal (or Alaska attorney under "limited representation" arrangement initially) to help several condo owners structure Superior Court complaint against what can best be described as our "HOA from hell" for failure to maintain common areas for decades.

For example, our roofs are now 40+ years old and leaking into numerous units. In common areas, whole sections of drywall ceilings up to two feet in diameter from water damage (exposing what appears to be roof joists, electrical wiring, waterlogged remnants of fiberglass insulation, and the bottom surface of the roof plywood) haven't been repaired for 20+ years.

Some boilers (we have many) and water heaters are decades old and very inefficient, with "spaghetti" wiring that could fail at any moment.

This is not in a third-world nation, but rather in a nice section of West Anchorage.

Whenever we ask to have common-area issues fixed, the HOA threatens to sue us. Nothing ever gets fixed.

The HOA, which hasn't released financial information for years, takes our dues money (over $600/month per unit) every month and we have no idea where the money goes. The HOA's attorney, in response to our recent written request, has refused to produce any documents required by the Declarations and Bylaws claiming "no such documents exist, so they can not be produced."

We don't even know who (if anyone) is on the Board of Directors or how they got there. We've never seen minutes of a single Board of Directors meeting. There hasn't been an annual meeting in a long time.

If you're an attorney, you could take over after the initial filings, including a formal request for documents, and we review documents; most of us are in our seventies and have been here 20+ years, so we know the history. Alternatively, if you're a paralegal, we can handle the mechanics of filing/serving the complaint, filing and responding to frivolous motions, requesting documents, and generally standing up to the HOA's attorney who apparently thinks his client is exempt from its own rules.

Feel free to telephone area code 9zero7 245-3848.

No texting, please. I "QUERTY-type" 90 wpm but can only "two-thumbs-type" 2 wpm on my $38 Wal-Mart flip-phone.
