Professional Paralegal Opportunity
Full-Time/Part-Time
Law Firm in Palmer, Alaska is looking for an experienced paralegal to work in its litigation firm. Experience in Personal Injury Law and General Civil matters is strongly preferred. This position is based at our office in Palmer, Alaska. This is NOT a remote-based position. In-person availability is required. It is a position suited for an experienced professional and is not an entry-level role. The ideal candidate has familiarity with Office software, civil rules, three to five years of experience is preferred, however a minimum of one year of prior experience is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working as a paralegal in a law firm or legal department. A paralegal certificate or degree in paralegal
studies is preferred, but not mandatory,
Experience with Personal Injury Law is a must,
Experience with civil matters, contracts, probate, etc. a plus,
Knowledgeable of the civil Rules of Court,
Familiarity with discovery requirements and discovery procedures, e-discovery tools. Experience in managing large
volumes of documents is a plus,
Be skilled in document and records retrieval from providers,
Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
Research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex legal information,
Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of work,
Strong organizational skills, and be able to work independently,
Ability to multi-task and take on caseload with minimal supervision,
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information,
Proficient knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation,
Notary is a plus or willing to become a Notary,
Must be reliable and have a good attendance record,
DUTIES (in addition to the above)
Provide exceptional client service and establish strong professional relationships,
Interact with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on case progress, communicate with
clients via email or telephone,
Maintain regular communication with clients, answering inquiries and addressing concerns,
Conduct legal research and prepare all legal pleadings,
Organize and create demand letters,
Trial preparation, such as preparing exhibits, trial briefs, etc.,
Collect personal financial documents from clients for discovery and/or exhibits,
Electronic filing with the court,
Able to meet deadlines,
Set up, organize, and maintain case files, both electronic and paper,
Set up appointments as necessary,
Answer phones, greet clients at the office,
Maintain general e-mails and correspondence.
HOURS/BENIFITS
This position can be full time, 40 hours a week, but at minimum 25 hours a week. Overtime is seldom required. Full time candidate benefits will include flexible paid time off (PTO) after 90 days. After 90 days PTO accrues at 4 hrs. per month, (2 pay periods a month) up to 10 days annually.
Full-Time PAY $52,000.00 annually,
Part-Time Compensation, up to $25/hr. commensurate with the candidate’s experience
