Position Summary: The Dental Office Specialist will provide patients and staff with necessary assistance in fulfilling the needs of the center. They are responsible for patient check in/out, verifying and updating all demographics and insurances, collecting payments, identifying/enrolling patients on the Sliding Fee Scale, processing various forms and documents, and notifying appropriate persons of messages and information as required. Responsible for recording all necessary personal information, securing required signatures, preparing and supplying data to various departments. Serves as the focal point for the dental appointment system by answering telephones and referring callers to the appropriate source. Schedules and confirms appointments for patients according to established center protocols, verify insurance coverage and establish, maintain, retrieve, monitor patient records and present treatment plans to include out of pocket cost to the patient. Generates paperwork to register patients for dental services and triages appointments for dental staff according to written protocol. Due to the multiple tasks and responsibilities, this position requires working from multiple electronic health records: Intergy Electronic Records (ER), Intergy Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and Dentrix Electronic Dental Records (EDR). In addition, working knowledge of dental terminology, dental insurance, CDT and ADA codes. Work Experience: One to three years’ experience in a dental office setting. Must possess experience in healthcare administration, financial intake, customer service, cash handling, and answering telephones. One-year experience in dental billing field is preferred.Education, Certification and Licensure: High school diploma or the equivalent required.Additional Skills and Knowledge: Must be able to use a ten-key and balance large columns of numbers. Must be detail oriented and proof own work for accuracy. Consistent attendance is required for this position. Skill and ability to fluently read, write, and speak English. Working knowledge of computer required; previous experience with dental software is preferred. Must be detail oriented, have excellent communication and telephone skills.
