We are looking for Head Cooks to join our amazing team. The Head Cook prepares and cooks family style meals for residents of a remote work camp by performing the following duties. If you are passionate about food and looking to make great money while having the adventure of a lifetime, this may be the job for you!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

Prepare, cook, present delicious food in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served.

Plan menu taking advantage of leftover foods and foods in season.

Order supplies and keep records and accounts.

Direct and train activities of workers assigned to shift.

Provide excellent customer service.

Ensure food safety, a safe workplace, and a positive team atmosphere.

Ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with laws, regulations, company vision, values, guiding principles, and policies and procedures.

In addition to the duties performed, the individual must be able to physical and mentally work away from home, family, and friends for extended remote rotation - 12 hours daily, 7 days a week, 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off.

All roles are located at remote camps; ESS offers all paid amenities that you would have at home at no cost to you.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 5 or more associates.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in food production, sanitation procedures, inventory, and weekly food ordering processes required.

Formal craft training is preferred.

ServSafe and Alaska Food Worker Card required.

Valid Drivers’ License and clean driving record may be required.

First Aid and CPR Certification may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly subject to prolong periods of standing and is required on occasion to taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift 50 – 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Must have capacity for long hours, days, weeks away from home.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat.
