Summary of Position:
We are in search of a passionate Pastry Cook to join our team. If you have a positive attitude, a passion for creating delicious desserts, and a love for learning, we want to speak with you! This position is looking for availability for the early mornings.

Key Responsibilities:
o Prepare a variety of assorted pastries, baked goods, and fine-dining desserts in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
o Quickly and Effectively Communicate with team members and management to fulfill orders or address requested needs/concerns from other departments; Receive storeroom orders; Respond to incoming/current banquet and outlet orders in a timely fashion.
o Scale, mix, and cook/bake recipes according to the Pastry Chef and Sous Chef.
o Read, measure, and execute recipes to produce a multitude of dessert items. Take action to correct any irregularities.
o Participate in assigned product preparation to uphold standards of quality, quantity control, taste and presentation; Replicate and memorize production procedures and presentation specifications that change seasonally.
o Comply with sanitation practices: Properly label and date all products; Maintain a clean and organized working space; Ensure kitchen equipment is clean; Ensure quality, consistency and cleanliness of kitchen operation.
o Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed; assist in conducting inventory and par level checks.
o Check refrigerators to prevent waste and contamination; Follow a strict first-in, first-out code of conduct.
o Contribute your own creative skill and knowledge to develop dessert menus and recipes.
o Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds throughout shift
o Ability to stand on feet a minimum of two hours
o Other duties as assigned
Minimum Education:
o High school diploma or GED equivalent required
o Culinary degree or certification in baking and pastry arts preferred
o Two to three years of direct baking experience may be substituted for culinary schooling
Minimum Experience:
o 2+ years of direct baking experience, preferably within the hospitality industry
o Must possess a valid Food Handler’s card or ServSafe certification
Skills/Abilities:
o An adaptable mindset is key. A flexible individual with schedule, daily operations timing, and with others will thrive in this role.
o Familiar with baking utensils, piping techniques, stand mixer functions and other commercial kitchen machinery; knowledge of pastry art methods, procedures, and techniques.
o Follow recipes concisely and accurately; Ability to read and interpret documents such as menus, BEO sheets, recipe instructions, and schedules.
o Working knowledge of weight and volume measurements, both metric and standard US units; Ability to calculate figures using conversion and percentage formulas.
Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines.
o Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new dessert items; Ability to take direction from others.
o Creativity and its application through design and menu required
o Essential functions may be adjusted due to changing market conditions or changing Hotel requirements
