Project Manager / Intern Architect
Rohde Architects – Eagle River, Alaska
Rohde Architects is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager / Intern Architect to join our architecture and design team. This hybrid role is ideal for a developing professional with strong drafting skills and construction knowledge who is eager to grow their experience in project coordination and architectural practice.
The successful candidate will be involved in all phases of project development, from schematic design through construction administration, with a primary focus on:
- Preparing architectural construction documents
- Coordinating with consultants and clients
- Supporting code compliance processes
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a variety of building types and project scales while working closely with the principal architect and engineers. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, engage with local and state permitting agencies, and contribute to the successful delivery of projects throughout Alaska.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management:
Coordinate design and construction activities with clients, consultants, and general contractors
Manage communication with regulatory agencies, including the Municipality of Anchorage and the State Fire Marshal
Collaborate with and manage engineering disciplines depending on project scope
Prepare and document design team meetings (agendas and minutes)
Oversee project timelines, deliverables, and workflows
Utilize Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and OneDrive for project communication and scheduling
Intern Architect:
Interpret and comprehend architectural and engineering construction drawings
Prepare detailed construction documents using Autodesk Revit
Conduct architectural code studies in accordance with the International Building Code (IBC) and applicable standards
Apply technical specifications and CSI-format spec books
Navigate and reference files in AutoCAD as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or current enrollment in an accredited architecture program)
2–3 years of experience in drafting in an architectural setting
Strong construction knowledge and understanding of building systems, materials, and detailing
Proficiency in Autodesk Revit (required)
Proficiency with rendering software preferred
Experience with Interior Design is a plus
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools (Teams, Word, Excel, OneDrive)
Working knowledge of IBC codes, zoning ordinances, and permitting processes
Understanding of architectural specifications and the CSI format
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to manage time effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment as well as work independently
Interest in pursuing architectural licensure (mentorship provided)
