General Functions

This position is responsible for supporting the CILC Business Lending Department with the intake and loan origination process, loan closings, loan servicing and portfolio management to small businesses. Also provides marketing support to acquire and attract small businesses within the entire state of Alaska; Ensures that standard company and any state, federal and granting/funding agency policies are followed and assists with the continuing development of CILC’s Small Business Lending Program.

Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)

Monitor and handle loan inquiries via website, business email inbox, by phone, or walk-in.

Effectively screen prospects to identify those that meet CILC’s eligibility guidelines and organizational mission objectives.

Discuss financing needs with inquiries to determine business loan request and readiness to apply.

Schedule appointments between the inquiry and Business Loan Officer/s to discuss loan request and next steps.

Support Business Loan Officer/s with onsite and offsite appointments, educational workshops, networking, and marketing events etc.

Communicate with business owners during all phases of application process either in person, by email, virtual or by phone.

Input data and track application and loan status in CRM, Loan Origination and Portfolio tracking software.

Monitor required documentation submitted and communicate with applicants throughout the submission process.

Provide credit support to Business Loan Officer/s during underwriting including spreading financials, pulling & reviewing credit, light credit analysis, and communication needed with applicants.

Prepare required loan closing & funding documentation.

Maintain reports to keep staff and management up to date at weekly loan review meetings and as needed for reporting.

Support processing monthly statements and delinquency notices and communicate servicing needs with borrowers as needed during the life of the loan.

Support annual reviews, communicate with borrowers, and monitor the yearly collection of required documentation.

Support retention of loan files per company policy.

Support the development and maintenance of business marketing strategies and campaigns, loan referral relationships with professionals in the Anchorage community, accounting, non-profit, Tribal, legal, and financial planning fields.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

Must have excellent customer service and people skills with ability to work through communication barriers or challenges.

Must have excellent communication skills both in oral and written form.

Ability to work with clientele of varying generations, financial status, linguistically challenged, economically and culturally diverse demographics.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines

Flexible to adapt with department growth.

Demonstrated ability to work with a team.

Analytical skills with the ability to work with numbers, statistics, and other technical data.

Knowledge of practices, procedures, materials, and typical office equipment.

Working knowledge in Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite.

Must be available to travel occasionally within the state of Alaska and outside Alaska for approved training and/or meet with Tribal entities.

Valid Alaska Driver’s License

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in business administration, or accounting, banking, community development, urban studies, or related discipline.

Significant employment experience in business management, accounting, marketing, sales, retail, internet-based business, etc.

Two years of experience in small business lending and/or community development

Experience in small business lending or grant programs. Real estate, accounting, CDFI experience, banking, financial planning, or financial coaching may be substituted for college on a year-for-year basis.
