Accounts Receivable/Credit Specialist

Accounts Receivable / Credit Specialist – This position, under the direction of the Knik Tribe’s CFO, maintains financial records and assists with general day-to-day tasks within the finance department. Primarily responsible for recording cash receipts, completing timely and accurate deposits and revenue data to keep Knik Tribe’s financial records complete. On occasion will invoice vendors.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.

Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.

Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and computers.

Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using specialized accounting software.

Receive, record, and bank cash, checks, and vouchers.

Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.

Compile statistical, financial, accounting or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses.

Code documents according to company procedures.

Code cash receipts for housing tenants.

Process credit card statements for payment.

Reconcile or note and report discrepancies found in records.

Access computerized financial information to answer general questions as well as those related to specific accounts.

Match receipts to charges on credit card accounts.

Perform general office duties such as filing, answering telephones, and handling routine correspondence.

Prepare and deliver bank deposits by verifying and balancing receipts, and sending cash, checks, or other forms of payment to banks.

Prepare various accounting reports.

Calculate and prepare invoices, accounting statements, and other financial statements according to established procedures.

Compare computer printouts to manually maintained journals to determine if they match.

Reconcile records of bank documents.

Backup to Accounts Payable as needed.

Monitor status of loans and accounts to ensure that payments are up to date.

Perform financial calculations such as amounts due, interest charges, and discounts related to accounts payable.

Some travel required for training and conferences.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Associates degree in Accounting, Finance requirement, required.

Familiar with generally accepted accounting principles.

Strong technical and organizational skills

2+ years computer experience required, with knowledge of excel.

1+ years of accounting/finance experience required in general or cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.

1+ years working within a financial system required.

Must possess sound understanding and experience in the application of general, cost and tax accounting, budgets and budgetary controls, awareness of the significance and application of financial controls and detailed knowledge of the financial objective, policies, and procedures of the company.

Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication skills

Discretion and experience working with confidential information.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, on occasion.

Supervisor: Chief Financial Officer

Schedule: Full-Time (32 – 40 hours), Monday – Friday.

Salary: Starting pay $18.00 - $24.00 per hour. Plus, full benefits FEHB medical, dental,

vision, life insurance, paid leave and holidays, and retirement plan with matching

contributions.
