Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk (SR.)

Purpose:

The Senior Accounts Payable and Receivable Clerk works cooperatively with Teya Accounting Team to accurately compute, classify and record numerical data to keep financial records complete. This position will perform any combination of routine calculating, posting and verifying duties for maintaining accounting records.

Essential Functions:

Reconcile vendor invoices and statements, monthly credit card accounts and bank account statements.

Review timecards and other documents for accuracy and create client reports.

Create invoices and schedule payments or prepare checks for payment for vendors, credit cards and bank accounts.

Check figures, postings and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy and proper codes. Comply with federal, state and company policies, procedures and regulations.

Classify, record and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records using computers.

Posts customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions.

Posts revenues by verifying and entering transactions into QuickBooks.

Updates receivables by totaling unpaid invoices.

Maintains records by scanning and filing invoices, debits, and credits both electronically and paper.

Verifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from project managers and customers.

Resolves valid or authorized deductions by entering adjusting entries.

Resolves invalid or unauthorized deductions by following pending deductions procedures.

Summarizes receivables by maintaining invoice accounts; coordinating monthly transfer to accounts receivable account; verifying totals; preparing report.

Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Access computerized financial information to answer general questions as well as those related to specific accounts.

Operate 10-key calculators, computers, and copy machines to perform calculations and produce documents.

Performs general administrative duties and support for department.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant area of study preferred.

Experience:

5 years of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable experience required.

Experience in government contracting and/or ANC accounting preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient in data entry.

Expert in QuickBooks or similar Accounting program.

Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software, and databases.

Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.

Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Familiarity with financial accounting statements and consolidations.
