The Maintenance Service Technician position conducts, maintains, tests and repairs facilities and all equipment in Whataburger facilities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operating systems while performing the daily field service requirements. Applies skills to restoring equipment and facilities to proper operation. Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, food production systems and local and national safety/electrical codes. Applies technical knowledge of mechanical principles related to equipment malfunction and fundamentals of the restaurant facility repairs to include but not limited to floor, wall, and ceiling tile installation, painting, carpentry, plumbing, and hardware.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains all Whataburger equipment, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), cooking and beverage equipment and refrigerators. Installs equipment in accordance with Company safety procedures; follows safety protocols when starting and shutting down equipment. Resolves electrical/mechanical problems; and informs appropriate management of potential inherent dangers with equipment. Responsible for installing floor, wall & ceiling tile, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, door assemblies & hardware and all other aspects of building & grounds maintenance. Maintains designated Business Unit of Whataburger facilities including equipment, tools, inventories, service calls, parts, supplies etc. Performs minor plumbing and electrical repairs; contacts external vendors for major renovations or repairs. Keeps management advised of status of repairs, special projects and their implementation schedules, and productivity and budget variances for small capital projects in the assigned zone. Partners with the Zone Lead Technician/Zone Regional Facilities Management to ensure all service requests are successfully executed. Provides technical support to Technician Team and other facilities disciplines when requested. Provides support to the operations of Whataburger’s 24/7 business operations and keeps the facilities up to the Five Points of Focus Standards. Reduces costs associated with facility equipment repairs by proactively planning and organizing assigned service order requests. Escalates proper assignment of service requests to external services, when necessary. Implements and coordinates program changes relating to equipment upgrades and procedures to improve productivity, customer service and profitability. Assists others in coordinating projects affecting equipment in Whataburger facilities. Works with Regional Facilities & Operations Management to ensure compliance with Texas Accessibility Standards (TAS), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements. Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma/GED equivalent or equivalent work experienceCollege hours in technical-related courses preferredBachelor’s degree preferred5+ years’ field experience in the HVAC and restaurant equipment repair field (preferred) 5+ years’ experience in the construction trade and carpentry fields (preferred) 2+ years’ work experience in commercial kitchen equipment repair (preferred) 2+ years’ experience preferably in restaurant industry (preferred) 10+ years’ experience (required) Must be able to communicate well with the general publicEstablish and maintain an effective working relationship with management, vendors and co-workers, - and to work in a team environmentEquipped with advanced fundamentals, knowledge and work experience to execute job duties. Must be able to deliver high quality results that are both efficient and effective. KNOWLEDGE & PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION:
