This is a role heavily focused on solving engineering challenges in a cloud environment with a high-performing team of collaborative cloud engineering professionals. This team is responsible for the architecture, engineering and deployment of USAF Cloud engineering projects, designed to streamline performance, reduce administrative overhead and workload, and deliver a seamless user experience with our customers. Work can be performed remotely in the United States. This work supports the Cloud One program under the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center Office for Network Integration (AFLCMC/HNI). Cloud One is an existing global, interconnected, virtualized, hybrid, and IT infrastructure hosting mission systems, applications, services, and data serves the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and other Government Customers. Cloud One facilitates the Government's efforts to migrate applications to a cloud environment, allowing the closure of data centers to support the Data Center Optimization Initiative (DCOI) and allowing for increased efficiencies across the entire spectrum of the USAF operations. Key Duties/Responsibilities:- Analyze existing system architecture and recommend secure design changes to the Cloud One AWS environment based on project objectives.
- Develop scripts and workflows as needed for automated deployment.
- Generate design documents, best practice configurations, and test procedures
- Execute testing to validate system performance IAW the developed test plan and criteria
- Support the Cloud One Chief Engineer with Architecture Change Management engineering decisions
- Recommend improvements to the existing architecture and process to reduce repetitive or time-intensive tasks in favor of automated solutions.
- Provide subject matter expertise on AWS cloud toolsets and best practices.
- Configure and troubleshoot cloud, virtual, and physical hardware and software systems.
- Proactively identify and resolve operational, tooling and process inefficiencies.
- Minimum of nine (9) years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or seven (7) years' experience in an IT related field with a Master's degree. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- At least three (3) years of experience in AWS environment development and/or engineering
- Demonstrated experience with some or all of the following: Networking, VPNs, IaaS, PaaS, SQL, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, and Guacamole.
- Knowledge of and experience working with DevSecOps tool chains.
- Experience preparing technical documentation.
- Experience working in a team environment with the ability to mentor junior team members.
- Configure and troubleshoot cloud, virtual, and physical hardware and software systems.
- Proactively identify and resolve operational, tooling and process inefficiencies
- Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Certification or higher
- AWS Cloud certification
- Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, OCI)
- Zero trust architectures.
- Experience with automation tools including Ansible and Terraform
- Experience with containerization tools such as Kubernetes
- AF Cloud One or Platform 1 development, engineering, operations and sustainment.
- In-depth understanding of, and experience as a cloud engineer with AWS, Networking, VPNs, IaaS, PaaS, SQL, storage, Active Directory, F5, Barracuda.
