Pipefitter-Welder-Helpers

Now Hiring Journeyman Pipefitter/Welder positions located in Mobile, AL. All applicates must pass drug screen and testing prior to hiring on. References Required.

Responsibilities:

Pipe Fitter

Selects type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications. Inspects work sites to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes will not cause structural weakness. Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers. Cuts pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine. Threads pipe using threading machine. Bends pipe by hand or with pipe-bending machine. Assembles and installs variety of metal and non-metal pipe and pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic. Joins piping by means of threaded, caulked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints. Secures pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers using hand tools. Installs and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping. Tests piping system for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks. May weld holding fixtures to structural steel members.

Welder

Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques. Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together. Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding. Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment. May assemble parts by bolting and riveting. May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools. Must Pass Tig Test to qualify.

Work Schedule: Monday -Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Overtime) (No Per Diem)

Physical Requirements:

Heavy lifting, and carrying 45 pounds and over; pulling hand over hand; reaching above shoulder, use of fingers; both hands required; walking 8 hours; standing 8 hours; crawling 2 hours; kneeling 2 hours; climbing legs only; climbing use of legs and arms; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; Ability to distinguish basic colors; Hearing (aid permitted); Mental and Emotional Stability

Job require working outside and inside; around dust; solvents; grease and oils; Slippery or uneven walking surfaces; Working around machinery with moving parts; Working on ladders or scaffolding; Working below ground; Working with hands in water; Working closely with others; Working closely with others

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Welders will be required to pass Tig Test.
