The Marshall Operations Systems, Services, and Integration (MOSSI) contract has an excellent opportunity for a Database Analyst/Administrator to support NASA Marshall Space Center’s Huntsville Operations Support Center (HOSC).The HOSC is a multi-mission facility that provides the capabilities of a control center for multiple NASA missions, programs, and projects. The HOSC is uniquely structured and designed to provide mission planning and support and to provide NASA and its partner(s) and scientists remote control of on-orbit International Space Station (ISS) experiments and tests. Data generated from the on-orbit experiments and tests is collected and stored by the HOSC for future analysis. The HOSC’s systems are also used to collect, store, and allow for analysis of ground-generated data from similar experiments related to NASA’s Artemis programs.HOSC systems are made up of several hundred servers utilizing virtual machine and containerization technologies. MOSSI manages a robust data storage system utilizing tools such as Dell Isilon. Most of the tools used by customers of the HOSC are developed in-house by MOSSI’s Software Development team and are custom-designed and built to meet specific requirements of mission planners and payload developers. The MOSSI Database Analyst/Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing database systems. This role involves advanced data analysis, troubleshooting performance issues, ensuring data integrity, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business intelligence and reporting needs.  The candidate will apply their knowledge of database administration including interpretation and analysis of data generated from on-orbit and ground-based operations at the HOSC. The candidate will work in a dynamic team environment and will be responsible for interfacing with NASA customers and users, including commercial and international partners.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Oversee or manage implementation of database administration.Supervise team of technical specialists working on complex projects.Apply knowledge of computer science concepts and techniques to design, development, installation, and maintenance of relational databases to satisfy engineering and scientific data acquisition, analysis, documentation, and management.Recommend optimum approach and develop system design for projects, interpret information, and informally arbitrate between system users when conflicts exist.Provide database tuning and monitoring to ensure effective and efficient data access to include comparison of performance ratios, tuning of memory configuration, disk Input/Output (I/O), and application software.Use data analytics to analyze, interpret, and perform statistical and trend analysis on complex data sets.Manage technical configuration control of components of complex operational systems.May serve as a lead analyst in a design subgroup, directing and integrating the work of one or two lower-level analysts, each responsible for several programs.
