Senior Systems Engineer/Integration Architect to join our team to support a U. S. Army science and technology (S&T) program integrating advanced autonomy technologies to demonstrate multi-aircraft teaming applicable to complex Army aviation operations. You will be responsible for development of system architecture, design, and implementation of a multi-function system of systems.

Your day-to-day work will include:
  • Developing integration architecture for demonstration system of systems consisting of manned rotorcraft platforms, unmanned aircraft systems and the associated software-intensive mission systems products.
  • Developing onboard mission system architecture using open system standards, define hardware and software interfaces and capture network protocol constraints as required.
  • Producing design and interface specifications to integrate avionics system software and hardware products from multiple third-party sources.
  • Developing design solutions based on widely used, consensus based, commercial standards and techniques for avionics processing, onboard networking, data distribution and computing platforms where applicable.
  • Reviewing architecture and interface designs for integration into system of systems and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Interacting closely with members of multi-disciplinary program team to coordinate system design, interface design, and configuration control as system evolves over multiple simulation and flight test events.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of military avionics, network architecture, and aircraft mission systems integration standards, and evolving standards for interoperability with autonomous systems.
  • Researching topics relevant to existing and future military mission systems and capture information to train and educate collaborating personnel when necessary.

At a minimum you should have:
  • An active SECRET security clearance or the ability to obtain.
  • A BS or MS in engineering with 10-25 years of related work experience. At least 3 years of recent experience in aviation systems integration.
  • Experience in a senior technical role in development of multi-application aviation mission system for implementation in a complex operating environment.
  • Experience in aviation mission system design and implementation, software-hardware interface design and network architecture design.
  • Knowledge of current software design practice and deployment such as micro services, containerization, and hypervisors.
  • Experience with avionics processing, computing environments, and operating systems (at minimum Linux).
  • Knowledge of aircraft network and data distribution standards and technologies and strong working knowledge of IP networking.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, DevOps, and DevSecOps, Model-based Engineering.
  • Familiarity with software airworthiness certification requirements.
  • A track record in prioritizing and executing tasks under pressure.
  • Above-average analytical, conceptual and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with geographically dispersed large multi-disciplinary collaborating teams.

You will be highly desirable if you have:
  • Unmanned aircraft systems experience.
  • Knowledge of open systems standards such as FACE, HOST, and SOSA.
  • Knowledge of software integration for use in aviation sensor data processing and command and control applications.
  • Knowledge of STANAG-4586 standard and DDS protocol.
  • Familiarity with military airworthiness certification requirements and processes.
  • Experience with NoMagic Cameo MBSE tools.
