Job Description

  • Liaise with transportation carriers and forwarders to ensure timely pick up and delivery of customer orders.
  • Collaboratewith both hourly and salaried employees, to include working with the sales team, to obtain freight cost quotes for customers.
  • Ensure efficient management of the warehouse computerized systems and functions.
  • Retrieve stored information and/or respond to enquiries (for example delivery schedules or shipment tracking).
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers and ensure that that there is sufficient packaging inventory to meet the organization's needs by ordering packaging products, managing out-of-stock and over-stocked products.
  • Monitor warehouse activities to ensure that goods are stored correctly and safely, and warehouse space is used efficiently.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of Forklift operating procedures, space utilization, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Prioritize and assign tasks to ensure that the shipping and receiving team’s resources are used effectivelyand that work schedules and targets are met in a safe manner.
  • Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports the company’s quality and safety policies and requirements.
  • Support the Operations Manager in creating an 80/20 culture throughout the facility and in developing manufacturing standards, processes, and KPI’s including Lean Manufacturing and 5S practices.
  • Supervise staff to ensure that all warehouse activities and all equipment are operated in a safe manner.
  • Train new and existing employees in the organization's operating procedures and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of international shipping and related documentation highly preferred.
  • Forklift operations skills highly preferred.
  • Significant understanding of Shipping/Transportation/Logistics and related documentation, warehouse, invoicing, and receiving.·
  • General knowledge of production planning and manufacturing systems highly desired.
  • Experience leading cross-functional team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
