Area Facilities Engineer

Responsible for the timely execution of run and maintain projects in their assigned area. Provide engineering technical support to assigned operations area as required by the Facilities Engineering Supervisor with the objective of improving safety, environmental compliance, reliability, and expense performance. Support Turnaround execution with timely and accurate engineering of discovery work. Act as an interface between maintenance, reliability and inspection groups. Represent engineering as part of the area multi-discipline team that maintains that area’s risk register.

  • Design of piping systems, including identifying specification, metallurgy, layout, supports and stress analysis for run and maintain projects in assigned area.
  • Understand/use equipment standards and ASME codes.
  • Knowledge/experience related to pressure vessels, piping, exchangers and factors that affect the reliability of fixed equipment.
  • Develop work scopes, project cost estimates, authorization for expenditure (AFE) requests, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate with procurement in the development of a contracting plan for engineering and execution resources.
  • Maintains current and accurate project documentation. Oversees the development of start-up manuals, operating and emergency response procedures, training programs as required. Verify and finalize components of engineering work packages including specialty items, tie in list, line list and related isometrics.
  • Assist with construction activities, including resolving issues in the field.
  • Support turnaround activities as required.
  • Participate in project team environment Follow-through on commitments made to others.
  • Create and maintain a neat, clean and well-organized and professional-looking work area.
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Bachelors of Science Degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering. Prefer an Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Manufacturing. A minimum of 5-10 years of experience as a mechanical engineer, preferably in oil and gas production, refineries, petrochemicals, or related industry. Professional Engineering license is preferred but not required. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Caesar II (or similar), Microsoft Office. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, work at elevated heights using fall protection equipment, and be able to enter confined spaces using a respirator. Strong knowledge of ASME and API piping and pressure vessel codes and standards. Knowledge of the fundamentals of project management front-end engineering and project planning and scheduling desired. Excellent organization skills and the ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written) is required.
